"It is such an empowering feeling to know that we can make a difference in someone’s life and that we have the ability to solve a problem and make someone’s life easier," said Chelsey Hawkes.

Karen works at Cache Employment Training Center and has a contract assembling and taping boxes closed. Karen has limited fine motor skills and 2 Helping Hands was created specifically to allow her to have both hands available to tape the boxes closed. Before this device was created Karen would typically need someone to hold the box while she taped it. Karen can now perform her job independently and efficiently.
All parts of 2 Helping Hands can be adjusted to fit different sized boxes, whether the boxes are wide or long. The device is safe to use. All of the edges have been sanded and ground down; caps have been placed on all potentially sharp or dangerous edges and anti-slide material mounted on the bottom to prevent sliding.
"Building 2 Helping Hands has been a great learning experience for all of us," said Chelsey Hawkes. "It was so amazing to help someone be able to accomplish a task that they could previously not do on their own. It warmed our hearts to see Karen’s excitement when taping the box on her own. We learned so much about working together as a team, problem solving and gained some knowledge in building and working with power tools."
